Looking chic and opulent as well as elegant and sophisticated, Genevieve showcases everything I adore about this century old era.
The Art Deco era was characterized by its clean, sharp, sleek geometric shapes, lines and patterns and its clear fascination for the concept of modernity. The beauty of the Art Deco movement and one of its biggest accomplishments was the fact that almost everything and anything could be seen as art. Its style effectively covered everything that could be touched by design, and it is one of those design styles that defies the passage of time. It’s almost like it bridged a major gap in design and was just the perfect blend between the ancient and the modern and that is why it remains a staple in interior design today.
Instantly I knew how I was going to modernise Genevieve without any of her inherent beauty being jeopardized. The canvas I had to work with truly was spectacular. From her beautifully curved asymmetrical cupboard doors to her bow fronted double drawers that sat right below her drop-down serving tray and all of which, rested upon the most elegantly shaped, slightly raised curved base. In my eyes she certainly was a work of art and in actual fact all she needed was a little updating.
Few design movements have done it quite like Art Deco. Timeless, decorative and luxurious, combined with just a touch of simplicity. So if you’re looking to add some Deco beauty to your space Genevieve carries that in abundance. Keep in mind though, like all MD Serendipity Designs Genevieve is the only of her kind world wide.
